The videos below show the free desktop software, SimTrim. This is designed to synchronise your analogue trim wheel with MSFS2020, solving a long standing problem with the sim. See the video for more information on this.

The other video shows TWP; a highly accurate and smooth trim wheel which can be used with or without SimTrim, providing an excellent trimming experience. The 3D model files and assembly instructions are provided for free.

For more details on these makes and more please head to the Tools page.

What’s this site about?

For a few years I have been making flight simulation tools and other addons in the form of desktop software and 3D printed peripherals. Primarily based around the elevator trim wheel the main tools here are SimTrim, which synchronizes your physical device with the in sim trim wheel thus solving the “jolt” issue demonstrated in the SimTrim video above.

TWP is a 3D printed analog elevator trim wheel using a hall-effect sensor. Bit of a mouthful, I know. The fact that it's an analog hall-effect device means it provides superb accuracy and precision, so you can make fine adjustments or larger motions as needed. You can use it with SimTrim to eliminate the “jolt” problem or use it as a regular stand-alone joystick device and assign it in sim. There's a provided guide to help you make one yourself. I love this thing and I think you will too.

Who’s it for?

In a couple of words; Flight simmers. But to be more accurate, SimTrim has only been tested with MSFS2020 and probably won't work with other sims. At least not initially.

An advantage of using SimTrim is that you are not tied to using any specific trim wheel. Any analog device can be used as your elevator trim, be that a trim wheel made by another manufacturer or even just a spare joystick lever on your throttle quadrant. Plus you can adjust the sensitivity from within SimTrim to make a joystick usable as a trim.

Trim Wheel Pro will appear in your list of USB joystick devices and as such can be assigned to your elevator trim wheel in your sim control options in whatever flight sim you are using. You will not get the benefits that SimTrim offers if that sim is not MSFS2020 but it will work without SimTrim just as any other off the shelf analog trim wheel.

Why share?

In my opinion these tools are genuinely useful and so good that it seems a shame to keep them all to myself. I want as many flight simmers as possible to benefit. I also want to get feedback from users and get their opinions too.

I want to gather suggestions, ideas and problems encountered from those users so that I can make improvements and fixes. I cant promise I will apply every idea and suggestion but I will certainly consider all.

What’s next?

I shall continue to work on and improve SimTrim and Trim Wheel Pro plus update, add to and improve this website. I also have a few other 3D prints related to flight simulation ready for publication, so stay tuned for those.
